EXECUTE JUSTICE TO BRING HEAVEN TO EARTH

For if you truly amend your ways and your deeds, if you truly execute justice one with another, if you do not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own harm, then I will let you dwell in this place (Jeremiah 7:5-7 ESV).

The Lord is summoning believers to execute justice on the earth. In a recent dream, He showed heaven’s determination in righting wrongs and decreeing righteous judgments in order to establish a kingdom standard on the earth. He is dealing especially with leaders and those with national platforms to get our attention. His heart is not to expose or punish individuals, but to uphold HIS Word through the power of His Spirit. No one will be exempt, and every judgment will be unto redemption. When He executes His justice, it does not bring condemnation or destruction, but hope, life, and lasting fruit.
In the dream, I saw a huge gavel come down from heaven in the midst of a raging sea. It was aimed at a platform with someone standing on it. Seeing its power, we tried to avoid it. However, there was a wave that was powering this gavel from behind and nothing could stop it. I never felt or saw the gavel hit. I only knew its purpose. Then, it came again. This time, however, it came directly to me – handle first. Just as before, it was being carried by waves so immense there was no avoiding it’s coming.
I believe the Lord is letting us know Who and What is behind the ongoing attention on public figures in the national spotlight who are facing charges and allegations of misconduct. He is allowing things to unfold in order to bring heaven’s justice to bear on the earth. He continues to call us to prayer so that individual cases can be discerned rightly with redemptive outcomes. Because the enemy will persist in taking out those who walk in truth and righteousness, we must do our part in agreeing with heaven’s righteous decrees. God is a Righteous Judge who upholds His Word for the sake of His people and He is re-setting the standard for what righteousness looks and acts like.

Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end, and may You establish the righteous – You Who test the minds and hearts, O righteous God (Psalm 7:9)!

A judge’s responsibility is to uphold the law; not his personal opinion or feelings about the law.  He is to do this without partiality in order to maintain justice for all. As the Righteous Judge, God knows the power of His Word to settle every dispute, calm every fear, and defeat every foe. It is through the power and presence of His Holy Spirit that these truths become life-giving precepts to those caught in bondage. He is telling us to execute this justice by boldly declaring these truths and precepts fueled by His Spirit of love.

Thus says the Lord God: Enough, O princes of Israel! Put away violence and oppression, and execute justice and righteousness. (Ezekiel 49:9a).

How do we execute justice? How do we respond to compromise and sin, and pray for God’s righteous rule to be established?

  1. PRAY – When someone is caught in sin or a standard of God’s truth is being violated, we must pray to have God’s heart and God’s perspective. When we pray for someone, our heart is softened towards them and God’s love filters out any personal bias or faulty misperception. This must be our first and immediate response – pray for God’s Spirit and God’s Truth to prevail.
  2. KNOW HIS WORD – We cannot rightly discern God’s heart and Word if we do not know them. God has written His laws in His Word, but even more importantly, written them on our hearts (Jeremiah 31:33). We must know God’s Word and His righteous decrees in order to bring lasting peace and justice. We never need to apologize for the power of His words, for they are Spirit and they bring life (John 6:63).
  3. REACH THE HEART – God is first a Father. His Word is not a Manual for Good Behavior, but a Love Letter to His sons and daughters. No list of rules or standard of ethics will keep us close to Him. Where the letter of the law kills, the spirit of the law reaches to the hearts of those who are wandering with the kindness of God. It is this heart attitude and approach that can bring godly repentance that brings lasting change (Romans 2:4).
  4. BE AN EXAMPLE – When we as believers demonstrate the power of His Word backed by the Spirit of God’s love, the world will look and listen. Our challenge is to share God’s Word and standard of righteousness with a glad heart, a happy disposition, and a spirit free of guilt or condemnation. It is that liberty that will cause others to look into the law of the Spirit that brings true freedom.

There is, therefore, now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:1-2).

Christians have long struggled to know how to live by God’s Word without judging others unfairly. Our temptation is to add to His Word through human interpretation or religious application. This only brings chaos and confusion. It is only through His Spirit that we can love the sinner without pronouncing our own judgments. Ultimately, it is GOD’S WORD that judges sin – not ours. It is THAT WORD that heaven is asking us to live by and decree. Our part is to agree with Him and what He has said. We cannot waver due to fear of man, but must stand fast as He judges compromise and sin so that truth and integrity will be restored in the land.
As a Father, God has been drawing us closer to His heart (Romans 8:15). As a Friend, He has been partnering with us in intercession to bring heaven to earth (John 15:15). As the Righteous Judge, He is now clearing the way for His rule to be established here so that the glory and power of His kingdom will be clearly seen. Will we do our part in agreeing with Him and standing on that Word? We cannot avoid it, because heaven’s rule and reign IS now bearing on the earth, and it cannot be stopped.

Let the godly exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands, to execute vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples, to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron, to execute on them the judgment written! This is honor for all His godly ones. Praise the Lord (Psalm 149:5-9)!
