SACRIFICIAL GENEROSITY – A KEY TO BREAKTHROUGH

Where the spirits of Poverty and Religion have skewed our beliefs about money and wealth, the Lord wants to re-frame our understanding of heaven’s provision through the power of His love. It’s not just our prayers, but our acts of sacrificial giving that can release heaven’s power and blessing, both personally and corporately.
I woke up weeping – twice. In two separate dreams in the past month, I have woken up, overcome by heaven’s love and compassion upon witnessing extreme acts of generosity through sacrificial giving. In both cases, these acts of generous giving triggered something in the spirit which brought release, breakthrough, and a rich outpouring of God’s favor and grace – upon all parties involved. The details shown in these dreams give us the needed steps to see this supernatural release in the Body of Christ.
In the first dream, an extreme financial gift was given to a minority group by a woman with very little money herself. The love expressed through her sacrificial gift drew heaven’s attention and released God’s favor. Where this group had been separated from the body of Christ due to past wounds and conflicts, her gift opened up heart-felt conversations, dismantled strongholds of the past, and created a place for healing and restoration. The racial walls of misunderstanding and victimization from the past were immediately dissolved through this one simple sacrifice of love from someone considered unlikely and unable.
In the second dream, I was shown the outpost of the Religious Spirit. Just like a military compound, there was high security everywhere and no privacy for those on the inside. Communication with others on the outside was constantly watched and monitored. The women, especially, were greatly restricted in their dress and involvement, placed on the sidelines to be seen and not heard.  I was shown a young man caught in this outpost who was determined to be free of the constraints imposed and eagerly testifying to the possibilities of life outside the control. I knew I was there to observe and assist as a way to bring freedom to those held captive.
Somehow, I knew I had just given a sacrificial gift to these people to help them. I didn’t know if anyone knew about it, but it didn’t matter. I gave out of love, not for notoriety. My acts of generosity now seemed to signal something in the spirit. I was brought outside to where it was very dark and was given specific instructions on a cardboard box. I was first told to “throw in the towel” as a gesture or signal.  This simple act of surrender represented my own efforts to fix things. When I threw the towel down, something happened.
I heard movement in the darkness beyond. I knew there were people out there and that my prophetic act of “throwing in the towel” had signaled a release of sorts. Yet, I was given another directive, and that was to dismantle the BOX that was in front of me. I hadn’t noticed before, but throughout my dream there were boxes everywhere. Representing our spiritual and theological “boxes” of beliefs and experiences, I was being told to dismantle those mindsets and ideas that had been holding back the release of heaven’s solution.
As I tore off the flaps to the box, people began to emerge from the darkness. Not only were they being set free, but they were coming with gifts for me! Because of the grace of God released through my simple, yet sacrificial gifts, and my obedience to heaven’s directives, they were being set free! Not only were they receiving the richness of God’s blessing, but they were coming out of bondage rejoicing in being able to share their new-found blessings with others. I was overcome and overwhelmed at the sincerity of their hearts and the depth of their love!
…for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints— and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us (2 Corinthians 8:2-5 ESV).
The depth of compassion I felt upon waking both times was a clear indication of how God looks upon acts of compassion and sacrificial giving. Not only is it an expression of His deep love for others, it is an act of grace saturated with supernatural power for breakthrough!
There is still much racial tension in our nation. I believe one key to seeing breakthrough is for believers to start giving to one another – extremely – and sacrificially. It’s not about the money. It’s about the heart-felt love for one another and the absolute confidence in the Father’s ability to provide, not only what is needed, but what reflects the abundance of heaven.
There are also many people still held captive by religious mindsets and man-made expectations that are keeping them isolated from the new things the Holy Spirit is doing on the earth. By dismantling the spiritual boxes we have created in our own minds, and surrendering our fleshly attempts at fixing things, release can happen. This can start in prayer but must go a step further in our acts of love and generosity towards those who are in bondage. I believe the Holy Spirit will speak to many of you who are reading this word, highlighting people in your life that are looking for breakthrough. He is giving you an opportunity to “trigger” a breakthrough and release through a sacrificial gift (money or otherwise).
Our spiritual adversary can’t handle generous giving, especially when done as a sacrificial act of love. When we give to others out of love, when we ourselves may feel lacking, all of heaven stands at attention. To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:20-21).
Let us consider the power of sacrificial giving to bring our brothers and sisters out of bondage. The Lord is calling us to consider this potent spiritual weapon to break free from the spirits of Poverty and Religion. Our prayers are still needed, but it will be our actions that will prove to be the keys to the needed breakthroughs, both personally and corporately.
