As our president faces ongoing threats and attacks from his opponents, we can be assured that his assignment will not fail if we understand the superiority of legitimate authority. If he truly carries a mandate from heaven as many believe, the authority granted to him from the throne will succeed, regardless of the demonic dissension. Ultimately, I believe the battle in the heavenlies over the nations of the earth is not a contest of powers, but a contending for authority.
In these days when the wheat and the tares are growing together and evil is continuing to rise, it is not those who exert the most power that will determine the outcome, but those who have been given the greater authority.
Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of Your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness. (Psalms 45:6)
It is only God who can give authority to those He appoints on the earth to accomplish heaven’s purposes: “For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.” (Romans 13:1 ESV) The devil knows who has been given legitimate authority from the throne. It is only those who have been given the scepter of His kingdom that have the right to rule from heaven to earth.
The Lord says to my lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.” The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion, saying, “Rule in the midst of your enemies!” (Psalms 110:1-2)
ILLEGITIMATE POWER DESPISES LEGITIMATE AUTHORITY
There are those who are ruling on the earth from a place of control, manipulation, and self-interest. These illegitimate leaders are wielding a man-made sword of power in order to distract and destroy. They think they operate in great power, but they are not recognized in the spirit. Though they long for the right to enforce their will through deception and coercion, they are limited in their authority, and they know it. The forces of darkness know who has been granted the right to rule from heaven, and they literally despise anyone who has it.
“Testing will surely come. And what if even the scepter, which the sword despises, does not continue?” declares the Sovereign Lord. (Ezekiel 21:13 NIV)
It is only those who hold the King’s scepter that have been authorized to issue decrees and render decisions that will stand in heaven and on the earth. This right to rule is not necessarily based upon one’s spiritual maturity or man’s approval. Yet, it will be recognized by its fruit and its inherent power to dissuade and displace demonic principalities. That which our current president is accomplishing around the globe is but one example of how much the illegitimate sword despises the authorized scepter. The forces of hell recognize God-given authority and will do everything in their power to stop it. But, regardless of any seeming fight for control, only those carrying legitimate authority from heaven will have the right to rule.
This is why our president and other Kingdom-minded world leaders are facing so much opposition. The demonic forces behind the globalist leaders realize their power is limited and are hoping to do as much damage as possible before going down. And yet, in the midst of this enemy occupation, God is extending the scepter of His kingdom to national leaders with a heart towards righteousness. The authority they are being given is to unseat the illegitimate rulers of this time so that the royal priesthood of believers can take their place. It is time for Kingdom authority to be established on the earth and for all powers and principalities to yield to the supremacy of the King.
Scripture often reminds believers that we will be accused, reviled, mistreated, and even persecuted for the sake of righteousness. When we carry legitimate authority and know our Kingdom assignment, all of hell will come after us. But, take courage. Our victory will not depend on our ability to fight or exert our power. It’s the one who holds the scepter of Kingdom authority that will always have the final say.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people, from this time forth and forevermore. For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land allotted to the righteous. (Psalms 125:2-3)
