We underestimate the POWER in OBEDIENCE.

For those of us who champion the tangible presence of God and spending time in the quiet place, it’s easy to assume that this is our only source of spiritual power. Though it is true that spending time with the Lord is foundational to our faith and nurturing our intimacy with Him is essential to our spiritual health and maturity, there is another source of POWER that I believe the Lord is testing.

He is looking for our OBEDIENCE – even more than our worship.

For You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; You take no pleasure in burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. (Ps 51:16-17 ESV)

Heaven is looking for some change agents on the earth. The radical shifts that need to take place in our culture will require a pioneering spirit and a risk-taking approach. God is looking for those who will move without hesitation because they have learned to heed His voice without delay. Perhaps you are one that He has been preparing?

I recently had some revelation about areas in my life that were out of sync with God’s purposes. I had to repent for some faulty mindsets and negative statements I had made about myself. As I confessed these things, I instinctively knew these were the roadblocks that had been holding up the momentum I had been praying for. I knew He wanted me to clear out the MENTAL CLUTTER and agree with HIS thoughts and ways in order to move forward.

I not only realized I had been robbing myself of joy and purpose, I had actually been running away from some directives He had speaking to me. I hadn’t been willing to consider some of His ideas simply because I didn’t want the added responsibility. I felt somewhat entitled in choosing for myself HOW to fulfill His will in my life. I finally saw my control issue and let go. Once I repented, I made some decisions.

I laid down my preferences and presumptions and told Him that I would do things when and how HE wanted. I told Him I would move forward on some of the ideas He had been suggesting, even though my flesh squirmed. I didn’t feel the earth move or the heavens shake. I didn’t feel His tangible presence or even feel stirred in my spirit. I simply turned the corner and determined to walk the walk.

Within the next 3 hours, I would receive three prophetic signs that not only confirmed what I had just prayed, but opened a door to a clear assignment ahead. What I had been laboring to know in the last 8 months, happened within a few hours of me simply denying myself and obeying the voice of the Lord. What had been clouded confusion concerning my direction and focus now became crystal clear.

The prophetic words I received through email that morning were pinpoint accurate and answered questions I had months ago. The prophetic sign was an opportunity that was totally unexpected but perfectly suited to my passion and call. The clarity of mind was almost instantaneous. The blinders were gone and I realized I had been acting like Jonah, avoiding what God was calling me to simply because I had some flesh issues. Once I got free, the sun came out and ideas began to blossom again.

When we get OVER OURSELVES and are reminded that we are not in control of our lives, God can do amazing things. I believe He is testing many of us in this area. If we are going to do exploits for the Kingdom and forge new territories in the spirit, He has to trust us and know that we will obey Him no matter what.

Seek Him in the secret place – yes. Spend time with Him in worship – most certainly. But don’t forget that obeying His voice has a power nothing else does. When we demonstrate our willingness to crucify our flesh and let Him take over, all of heaven will come to attention and move on our behalf.

But we preach Christ crucified…the power of God and the wisdom of God. (1 Corinthians 1:23-24)

  1. This is exactly what I’ve been experiencing for some time now. Thank you for reminding me of the power that backs up obedience.

  2. I was led to read material published in the 1970’s as instructions on how to clean out some old thought patterns. To know i’I’ve made restitution and to expect restitution to come back as even monetary needs are being met. Pressed down, shaken together and RUNNING OVER.Blessed be the name of the Lord.
This is now becoming essential as the Lord has said in our area we will have snow and cold. We need to be aware of who we see and where we go since the coronavirus has been found here. Behold the king. Mighty in power and watching over us all the time, in every way. PSALM 95 AND PSALM 103.

  3. Reblogged with this intro: Once again we have words of wisdom Wanda, and which ‘coincided’ with retaining  the opening scripture to my Fulfilled Prophecies catalogue. (Appearing in full from the page’s inception I’d decided to truncate it down to first verse only but yesterday morning obeyed the Spirit’s direction to retain it >> later that day I received an email from such a ‘false tree’ of prophecy!)
Next, after re-blogging the previous post relating to censoring Franklin Graham a reader queried my use of a certain word. I replied that my focus is to try meeting Jesus’ triple insistence in John 14 of obedience as a demonstration of loving Him (vv 15, 21, 23). SO carefully consider Wanda’s teaching and example given below:

    1. Thank you, Richard, for responding and sharing on Richard’s Watch. May the Lord continue to bring you and yours fresh revelation, strategic application, and tangible evidence of God in your midst! Many blessings!

  4. I have realized for awhile that this is true. I was led to study Jonah, and there are still areas He is working with me on. Every day and every night I am finding myself leaning more on His voice, His thoughts, His promptings. Coming to the end of ourselves is a spiritual warfare where the flesh fights against the spirit. Coming out of her does not come natural to the flesh. I don’t usually talk about it but people will say ‘why do folks think you have to do anything but believe’. A walk with Christ is more than sitting on the sidelines and cheering on a team. You have to jump over the rail from the stands and join the fight. This article confirms and puts it all into perspective so clearly. I may hang this on my wall.
