“IF YOU WOULD JUDGE RIGHTLY, I WOULDN’T NEED TO…”

If you would judge rightly, I wouldn’t need to….” That’s what I heard Him say. As I was pondering the ongoing debates and feuds in this nation, I was thinking of God’s judgment and how many are longing for Him to come and set things right. In our frustration of seeing endless corruption, rampant deception, and the lack of any true justice, surely God could just come to deal with our enemies and put things back in order! And yet, until God’s final day of judgment comes, He looks to us to render right judgments on His behalf – now. This admonition from the Spirit was a reminder that we shouldn’t expect Him to do something that WE’VE been told to do.

Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment. (John 7:24)

Yes, we have been called to judge. Where God is the only judge of men’s souls, our judgments are against the forces of darkness. The problem is, we don’t always recognize them. We haven’t always judged rightly, and this is the challenge.

That Greek word “judge” is packed. It means “to distinguish, decide (mentally or judicially); by implication, to try, condemn, punish: — avenge, conclude, condemn, damn, decree, determine, esteem, judge, go to (sue at the) law, ordain, call in question, sentence to, think.” This is no mere opinion! This is a command to make right decisions based on the right information. To think before we react.

If we are to judge properly, we must do our homework. We must use our heads, not just our hearts. Righteous judgment will not work if we allow personal preferences, emotional connections, or familiar mindsets to muddy our perceptions. Right judgment can only occur when we die to self, sever unhealthy soul ties, and renew our thinking according to Kingdom standards and not the world’s.

Let’s make it practical. If we are so focused on wearing masks for the sake of others without seeing the demonic political agenda behind the propaganda, we are not judging rightly. If we are tied to the Democratic party because of generational loyalties or social causes, and yet blind to their godless platform, we are not judging rightly. If we are so focused on seeing all the flaws of the President without seeing his extraordinary advances for conservative values, we are not judging rightly. Regardless of our personal feelings, right judgments must be based on factual truth and not presumption or persuasion.

We cannot afford to let our emotions lead us. Yes, we must love without condition and serve others in humility, but we must embrace the truth, even when it’s costly and even uncomfortable. If we want to see a righteous standard raised across the earth, we must rid ourselves of any soulish filters that will cloud our judgment, deny the devil’s agenda, or misinterpret the times.

As I’ve written before, we are not in a time of peace, but a time of war. We must understand the spiritual battles that are being fought in the unseen realm. Otherwise, we will address inequities with limited vision, resulting in devastating consequences. It’s like telling someone to just give a hug to a helpless victim struggling with life, while totally missing the snake around their neck. Without eyes to see the devil’s work in our midst, our mercy-minded solutions will manifest no power to break the enemy’s grip and everyone will pay the price. Where the love of Christ can shape our hearts, it is right judgments that should compel our actions.

God’s judgment day is coming. But, until that day comes, He has called us to stand in the gap and render right verdicts against the Kingdom of darkness. Through our right judgments we are supposed to expose the works of the devil, illuminate the truth, and shift the atmosphere from death to life. If we would judge rightly, God wouldn’t need to come rescue His people from tyrannical rule. Rather, He will come because we have set the stage and made ready a people prepared for the Lord.

  1. Well said!
    As Jesus lamented:
Lk 12:49 “I came to cast fire upon the earth; and would that it were already kindled!”
Meaning a people preparing to receive and welcome Jesus.
Preceding that verse is Lk 12:42-48 explaining about the servant not taking care of the master’s household in his absence and what befell him for failing to attend to his duties correctly.
Luke 12-48 & 49 are therefore connected in meaning.
Did the people of Israel welcome and receive Jesus as their Messiah? Therefore how well prepared were they for Jesus to say:
Lk 19:41 “And when he drew near and saw the city he wept over it, 42 saying, “Would that even today you knew the things that make for peace! But now they are hid from your eyes. 43 For the days shall come upon you, when your enemies will cast up a bank about you and surround you, and hem you in on every side, 44 and dash you to the ground, you and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another in you; because “you did not know the time of your visitation”.”
Further on in Jesus’ narrative about the disobedient servant Jesus explains:
Lk 12:54 “He also said to the multitudes, “When you see a cloud rising in the west, you say at once, ‘A shower is coming’; and so it happens. 55 And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat’; and it happens. 56 You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky; but why do you not know how to interpret the present time?
    Then:
Lk 12:57 “And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right? 58 As you go with your accuser before the magistrate, make an effort to settle with him on the way, lest he drag you to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and the officer put you in prison. 59 I tell you, you will never get out till you have paid the very last copper.”
When the master returns, he will judge according to the truth and how much we have embodied his word. God’s children centring on the word must become the embodiment of true love as is our purpose of creation.
Jesus is the embodiment of the Word and God’s Love, and he told us:
Mt 5:48 “You therefore must be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect”
Jesus said this after explaining about loving our neighbour and our enemies.
Therefore we will be judged according to how much we love one another, including our enemies. Hence Jesus giving us a new commandment after demonstrating his love for his disciples by washing their feet.
Jn 13:34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
If we love Jesus, then we must keep his word. To the extent we do not keep his word, we will be judged, as God’s Word and standard of true love is absolute.
Lk 12:57 “And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?” So we will not be judged and given over to the jailer.
God is a God of love, and only judges us to bring us back to the path of righteousness and true love.
In reality the greatest judge we have is ourselves, when we understand how far we are from God’s absolute standard of true love which God Himself practises.
It is our conscience that ‘burns us like a fire’, driving out and purifying our wrong thoughts and actions.
That is why it is so important in our physical lifetime to connect to God’s Will and lead a life of absolute goodness, truth and beauty, embodying God’s Word by also living for the sake of others, fulfilling the ‘Two Great Commandments’.
We must lead a good life while we are on the earth. Jesus gave the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven to Peter, who remained on the earth, and said, “whatever you bind on earth shall be
bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven,” because the main goal of the providence of restoration must be carried out on the earth, where the Fall of Man took place.
It is not God who decides whether a person’s spirit enters heaven or hell upon his death; it is decided by the spirit himself. Humans are created so that once they reach perfection they will fully breathe the love of God.
Those who committed sinful deeds while on earth become crippled spirits who are incapable of fully breathing in the love of God. They find it agonising to stand before God, the centre of true love.
Of their own will, they choose to dwell in hell, far removed from the love of God.
Mt 18:18 “Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven”.
Jesus is referring to our actions, whether we liberate (loose) ourselves by living righteously, or being bound like Satan by living unrighteously.
Remember, God’s standard is absolute, and applies to everyone, especially Christians.
We received grace in order that we could then go on and accomplish God’s Will as I have explained above. We are on a journey. Forgiveness is forgiveness, but we must then take responsibility:
Rev 22:14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates”.
    NB Heb 10:26-31.
We all have the responsibility to become the embodiment of the Word as Jesus is. Grace and forgiveness is not God’s original plan. That is the salvation plan God had to draw up to bring fallen man back to God, which means, ‘we must be perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect’.
Refer to Genesis 1:26-31, God’s original blueprint for His children.
