Throughout Scripture, blowing the trumpet was a prophetic signal and alarm to the nation. It represented the voice of God to alert both heaven and earth that something was about to happen. Blowing the trumpet was a rallying cry to worship (Numbers 29:1), and a call to repentance and consecration (Lev 25:9, Isaiah 58:1). It was also blown whenever the people of God were about to go to war (Numbers 10:8-9). It was only blown under God’s directives and had heaven’s authority on it.
However, blowing the trumpets was reserved solely for the PRIESTS and no one else. One commentary states: “In order to attract greater attention and more faithful observance, it was reserved to the priests alone, as the Lord‘s ministers; and as anciently in Persia and other Eastern countries the alarm trumpets were sounded from the tent of the sovereign, so were they blown from the tabernacle, the visible residence of Israel‘s King.” (Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible)
Obviously, on this side of the cross, we are all kings and priests unto the Lord and have been commissioned to be heralds of the gospel (1 Peter 2:9). However, I believe there is a divine FAVOR and AUTHORITY on appointed and anointed pastors and church leaders to SOUND AN ALARM within this nation. They have been given heaven’s authority to RALLY GOD’S PEOPLE to worship, repentance, and spiritual warfare. It is when they lift their voice to rally the troops and call people to specific action that nations will respond.
PRAY FOR PASTORS to have the courage in sounding the alarm concerning the threats within our nation. Pray that they would trumpet Kingdom directives in this time of spiritual warfare over our future. I see several nationally-known worship leaders calling the saints to worship. Let us pray that pastors would call the people to repent of our apathy, consecrate our cause, and stand in formation against the enemies of God. They’re the ones holding the trumpets and it’s time for them to blow them.
“And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets. The trumpets shall be to you for a perpetual statute throughout your generations. And when you go to war in your land against the adversary who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, that you may be remembered before the LORD your God, and you shall be saved from your enemies.” (Numbers 10:8-9)
REPORTS FROM INTERCESSORS WHO ARE BUILDING PRAYER ALTARS IN THEIR CITIES!
It’s been amazing to hear from different leaders across the nation who are using “Moving from Sword to Scepter” for their prayer groups! They are getting the vision for establishing prayer altars in their city. This is a strategic key that can turn things around – when we decide to come into agreement and stand as a community of faith between heaven and earth!
Georgia Thomas says her Ladies Bible Study is going through the book. “It is a book ALL Governmental Intercessors MUST READ. And every believer. We are called to pray for our nation…it’s never too late to begin!” When she sent me the picture of her ladies around the table, she said “Praying over the gates of our city NOW!”
Pastor Brian Gibbs sent me a picture of his large group going through it together. “We are taking these 40 intercessors at our church (VICTORY) through your amazing book “From Sword to Scepter.” Tonight was chapter 7 on watchmen getting in position. Outstanding video. The Lord is using the book amongst us in beautiful ways! Tuesday night is corporate prayer and we incorporated your teaching before going into 2+ hours of mighty burning intercession.”
