THOSE CONSIDERED WISE ARE ABOUT TO BECOME FOOLS

Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. (Romans 1:22 ESV)

As more corruption and compromise has been exposed in the last two years, there has been an increased hunger for knowledge and the attainment of strategic information. Those considered truth seekers are passionate about pursuing controversies, conspiracies, and any presumed narrative that may lead to hidden treasure and fresh revelation about the true state of the Union and where things are headed.

In an attempt to comprehend a higher purpose behind all the madness, not only are prophetic voices raising a call, but those who don’t even know God are searching for answers. Whether through philosophy, science, political intrigue, or cultural revolution, many honest seekers are looking for a reason for which these many battles have ensued. Surely there is something higher or someone greater that is steering this storyline through all the chaos and leading us to a happy ending!? Many intellectual minds are emerging with their own commentaries of this current warfare and drawing much attention for their philosophical and investigative analysis of the world’s ills.

TODAY’S WISE MEN, SCRIBES, AND DEBATERS

Ben Shapiro is a conservative political commentator that has garnered millions of followers. Being an Orthodox Jew, he is God-fearing and passionate about moral foundations and just laws, even without any personal testimony of faith in Christ. His famous arguments and rebuttals come from his astute intellect as a lawyer and experience as a prolific author. His reputation as a skilled orator and debater is well-known and highly sought after.

Jordan Peterson is a well-known apologist with international recognition. Trained as a clinical psychologist and deeply intellectual in his approach to the world’s problems, he has attracted many to his platforms, including many non-believers. Once claimed to be an atheist, Peterson’s own journey of faith continues to evolve. Though speaking freely to millions in the modern church, he avoids any personal profession of faith in Christ or any ongoing relationship with the Holy Spirit as a foundation for belief.

Russell Brand, though not considered an apologist such as Shapiro or Peterson, is an English comedian and actor and new-age philosopher at heart. (Interestingly, Brand has interviewed both Shaprio and Peterson). Also drawing millions of followers on his YouTube channel in the last two years, his intellectual pursuits and passionate activism concerning our cultural divisions are drawing attention. His call for mercy and compassion towards our fellow man may be heart-warming and noble, but is void of any Christ-centered faith or Holy Spirit connection.

As the Scriptures say, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.” So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. Since God in His wisdom saw to it that the world would never know Him through human wisdom, He has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe. It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom. So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense. But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength. (1 Corinthians 1:19-25 NLT)

This reference is not meant to shame or disqualify any of these public figures as much as consider their influence through a different filter. They all appear to be authentic seekers of truth who care about people and want to make a difference. They, and all their followers, are asking many of the same questions we are. And yet, without embracing Christ crucified and the power of His resurrection, none of these intellectuals are even close to the realities God has for us. Their insights may bring a measure of truth and understanding, but there is a limit to what they can offer. Apart from the Spirit of Truth and the mind of Christ, they may stir our thinking, but they will never impact eternity. They may challenge our mindsets, but they will be void of any true spiritual power to bring effective change.

WHO HAS THE ANSWERS?

As people who profess Christ, perhaps we should be asking ourselves why we aren’t compelling others to listen to US. Don’t we have the words of life through God’s Word? Don’t we possess the wisdom of the Spirit to rightly discern what is good and what is evil? Don’t we know the One who is Alpha and Omega, who knows the beginning from the end? We have personal access to the very Source and Interpreter of all truth! And yet – what are we doing with it?

Are we speaking with clarity and purpose? Are we asking questions that make people think? Are we digging for ourselves those answers that can only be found in the deep places? Are we willing to take the risk of being misunderstood and misrepresented by challenging the status quo and rattling familiar patterns and mindsets?

The reality is that none of these considered intellectually wise by today’s standards have the answers. If you listen to enough of their broadcasts, you will eventually hear them admitting as such. They aren’t popular because they have all the truth. They draw crowds because they dare to ask the questions. They dare to dig deeper. They dare to confront dangerous ideologies and destructive patterns and offer alternative solutions. People watch them because inside all of us is the longing to ask questions without fear of rejection. These supposed enlightened individuals inspire us to take the risk and confront the opposition.

But why is this important? Why are we drawn to those with seeming insight about our true condition or possible future? Whether it’s prophetic revelations from the Christian community or intellectual enlightenment from the philosophical community, the truth is – we are all hungry to KNOW. Within each one of us, God has placed a hole that can only be filled with eternal realities and eternal truths. God Himself is so passionate about this, He has declared that the earth will not only be filled with His glory – but with the knowledge of His glory.

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea (watch the water! Habakkuk 2:14 ESV).

It is in the heart of God to fully reveal Himself. Not only for His love, His mercy, and His compassion – but for His wisdom. Even for His intelligence. He is not some distant Creator that is void of depth or enlightenment. He’s the one who started it all. He is THE source of all intelligence and the true Master of the Universe.

It is this divine intelligence and inspired knowledge from the higher realms that is about to flood the earth. Where Noah saw the earth flooded with water when God decided to end all corruption and start over, we are about to see the earth flooded with a supernatural knowledge of His glory that demonstrates to all there is a God after all. And this God is no fool. He’s actually – extremely smart.

Unlike the artificial intelligence that human minds are pursuing, this divine intelligence of the Holy Spirit comprehends things not only impossible, but inconceivable to the human mind. Where human wisdom and intellect are limited to the lower regions, it is only from the higher realms of God’s glory that true wisdom and knowledge are attained.

But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. (1 Corinthians 2:7-8)

It is this reality of His glory that the God of the universe is preparing for us to experience. As we see the intellectual’s debate, the scribes interpret, and the creatives imagine, it is those who know the power of the Spirit through Christ who will actually “get it.” It those with the faith of a child and a pure heart positioned in Christ who will have access to the true wisdom and understanding needed to bring breakthrough and freedom.

Rather than being intimidated by man’s wisdom we must remember that we’ve been given the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16). We’ve been given all access to the treasures from the deep if we dare go there. Not only can we know His heart, we can think His thoughts. Better still, we’ve been given the power of His Spirit to know what to do with them.

Keep pursuing truth, but do so from the right source. Man’s wisdom may take us to the moon, but God’s wisdom reveals His glory that stretches through all eternity.

  1. This is a now word. Succinct, well written, and simply wonderful. Thank you so much.

And thank you, Jesus, for clarity and truth in this time when the airways are filled with the clamor of so many voices.

  3. Truth! ❤️ If we have and are seeking a relationship with our Awesome God, we are able to listen to God speak through others, believers and unbelievers alike. God’s Word in our heart is an anchor and then we Glean, asking Holy Spirit to filter thru the lens of truth, Gods Word. For this gal It may have taken a lifetime of learning but oh my gosh! He is so Faithful to His Word and Promises! He truly loves each of us deeply!
Thanks Wanda, I’m glad you got to go let loose and have fun!

  4. Thank you for your word which is very timely for me. Just before I read it I had written down a vision that I had last night during worship. Your word goes hand in hand with and brings Revelation to my vision. Time To Worship in spirit and in truth and move in his power. All HE is will draw many to Him. Bless you!

  5. Fortunate in my business to have drive-time in the country, I covet this time to be by myself with the Holy Spirit as much as possible. Years ago I became suspicious of the MSM. They all said the same things as if programing our minds and turned it all off. Similarly, I have “unplugged” from all social media and popular alternative media. THEIR opinions are circular thought and suck you into the zeitgeist vortex – it fed my anxieties. If you practice hearing the refreshing voice of the HS, paired with bathing yourself in the Word, it then influences HOW you listen to all speakers. At this point, my brain naturally seems to tune out lots of people. Truth becomes obvious and I find myself wasting less time cluttering my brain. It’s all just ‘re-programing’ your soul to the Truth…which sets you free, in so many ways. Therefore, I listen to Wanda Alger.

  6. Brand, like great comedians is brilliant and sensitive. He would benefit from listening to John Paul Jackson. MelK came out of Hollywood with the same disgust for what was happening there, like Brand.
Shapiro is legalistic/pharisaic. Jesus told His disciples not to discount the Pharisee’s knowledge of God. Consider Saul, amazingly well taught about God, until he met God and became Paul (lowly). –> Applied knowledge.
As far as their numbers of followers, Jesus said, ‘Lift ME up and all men will be drawn to Me’. ‘Truth’ draws the crowds to these 2, because NOW people are seeking truth, not so much amusement (without thought) – as an escape. Each fellow attracts likeminded folks. God uses all we, the imperfect, prn.

  7. Rings so true. TRUTH with mercy. Help us Fr to expand our tent stakes. So much at stake and U the LORD of glory WILL FILL THE EARTH AS THE WATERS COVER THE SEA. In awe of the FR, SON AND HS. HIS WAYS, HIS TIMING, HIS WILL. HIS WORD will NOT fall to the ground unfulfilled. Thank U, worship and praise the ONE WHO IS WAS AND IS TO COME!!! HalleluYAH

  8. Just today I got a download regarding personalities in Ministries will lose their luster. If they don’t carry the true presence of God they will peter out and shrink and …I see them shrinking to be like children riding tricycles and their voice becomes squeaky like when you inhale helium from a balloon

  9. I need help with a dream that I had. The dream occurred on September 11, 2022 at 3:15pm (during a nap). “There was chaos in a suburban neighborhood. Streets were being covered with tar (or asphalt). Homes were being emptied and gutted out, and the floors in the homes were being covered in tar (or asphalt). The neighbor (a younger heavier Chris Pratt) was arguing with me. Then, someone was trying to force the home front door open; it was a well-to-do (blonde hair) mom (and her ~pre-school aged daughter) looking for the previous tenants that previously lived in my home. My son was a young toddler in the dream (he’s actually 20-years old today) and was throwing a major tantrum and not being kind to me. I was also worried/afraid of the house because it had hidden rooms.”
