The Lord says to my Lord: "Sit at My right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool." The Lord sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your enemies!
Psalms 110:1-2 ESV
For those who understand the greater authority we carry from an unseen Kingdom, the issue isn’t about whether or not we get involved in governmental affairs or an electoral process. It’s about being vessels of transformation and possessing a zeal to see God’s glory and presence permeate and impact every part of the nation. God’s rule and dominion is not just a spiritual concept reserved for prayer. It is a tangible result of sons and daughters becoming instruments of righteousness and conduits of Kingdom authority into every part of God’s creation.
What does that look like?
Kingdom rule is the reality of an unseen Kingdom at work in every sphere of our culture; bearing such weight, authority, and influence, it’s impact is powerful and tangible. It will be felt by the implicit, supernatural authority that accompanies those who operate in it, bringing substantial results that are not possible through natural means. It is we, the ambassadors of heaven, who are the carriers of this Kingdom authority and those who bring heaven to earth in our various realms of influence. This is not necessarily by ruling over others in the natural as much as ruling and reigning in the spirit. We have the opportunity to bring this kind of impact to every mountain of our culture through our witness and righteous actions, regardless of our roles or positions.
God took Daniel to a governmental mountain in his day to bear heaven’s authority with a heathen ruler. Joseph was made second in command to the Pharaoh of Egypt in order to save God’s people from extinction. The apostle Paul was led into the courts of Caesar to make an appeal for the gospel. In each case, it was not an organized takeover or attempt at domination, but a living demonstration of Kingdom rule and authority that so impacted the pagan rulers of the day, God’s people prospered, and the glory of the true King became known. They ruled in the midst of their enemies.
(excerpted from MOVING FROM SWORD TO SCEPTER, Wanda Alger 2020)
Esther did not save her people through prayer alone. It merely prepared her to challenge the laws of the day, risk her life and reputation, and use her voice to declare God’s intentions to a heathen ruler. She was given a scepter, and what was deemed unlikely and impossible in the natural, became reality because of both prayer and action. Laws were changed because God’s people stepped in.
The saints of old didn’t avoid interaction with the rulers of their day. On the contrary, when God’s people were threatened, He called them up and they gladly walked into the courts of men knowing the greater authority they carried. They used that authority to change atmospheres, change hearts, and even change laws. They gladly defended their faith and confronted the powers that be, not because they sought to be political, but because the righteousness of God compelled them. Their involvement not only turned the hearts of rulers, but turned the tide of nations.
There is a death sentence decreed against the people of God in this nation. Veiled as woke ideologies, we are being prepared for annihilation and enslavement to an anti-God system. Yes, we need to pray. But we also must take action and let our voice be heard. We must speak up in the public square, and exercise our rights as citizens to vote for those who are going to rule and make laws that will affect us. If we do not, the ungodly will rule by default. This is not the time to debate our role in civic affairs. We’ve been given a scepter and it’s time to use it. It’s time to exercise our Kingdom authority, first in prayer, and then in practice.

Good word about walking in our authority and changing our culture by doing it. I most definitely agree. However I would like to challenge some of your viewpoints. First, we do not elect rulers but public servants who are and operate the government. Secondly, We the People are under what is called common law, not statutory law. Common law is different and separate from enactments of legislatures. See Blacks Law Dictionary 4th edition or older. I am part of a group called Restore Minnesota, and our Wright County group in particular is focused on learning the fundamental law that our Constitution and Nation are built on. We study it, teach it, and serve notices and affidavits to elected officials who are doing wrong. This is how we are to shape government in the physical. We must know the law that our nation is founded on. It is not statutory or case law. I’d be happy to send you some information if you like. I appreciate the messages you get from the Lord and am very encouraged by them all!
We are governed by statutes, regulations, and the common law as formulated in court cases. If we live in cities, we are also governed by city ordinances. Every state has its own set of laws, as does the federal government. Our nation was founded on the Constitution. You can adopt the position that statutes and court decisions do not apply to you, and argue that this system be changed, but you’ll most likely lose.
Acts 5:27-32 – Obey God not man’s where man’s laws contravene/ contradict God’s commands especially when trying to prevent the Gospel from going forth or lie about God’s holy name and character:
King James Bible
(Arrested and brought before the council: and the high priest)
28 “”Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!”
(Amplified Bible)
29 Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than people. 30 The God of our ancestors raised up Jesus,a whom you had murdered by hanging him on a tree.b
31 God exalted this man to his right hand as ruler and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.a 32 We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.”
(Obviously, it was our collective sin that murdered Jesus, not just the Pharisees and the Roman overlords.)
Thank you, Todd. I appreciate your input. There’s no doubt we have greatly lacked understanding in these matters, for many years. We’re on a steep learning curve right now lol. Blessings!
Todd Nelson, we are supposed to be under common law, but the Khazarian Mafia that ACTUALLY RUNS AMERICA, is actually using perverted Masonic statutory law in the very corrupt Court system. What you say sounds nice in an ideal world, but the two tier American judicial system is VERY CORRUPT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who will correct it, if we don’t?
Absolutely true!
Last I checked, Jesus calls us to Love and Serve the least of these. Ruling from a place of servitude not power
Very true. No argument here. We can walk in our true identity in Christ, carrying His authority and influence, while still loving the least of these. Jesus walked in great empathy and compassion and yet knew when to take out the whip :-). And He didn’t mince words with the Pharisees, either. Truth and mercy are supposed to work together.
Feel like on these prophetic right wing platforms there’s a lot of emphasis on the “whip” approach and not Love. Who do you see the Pharisees to be in our day? If you don’t see yourself in the place of the Pharisee at times, I wonder if we have lost our humble place at the foot of the cross
If we don’t “whip” this government into shape, who will? As I recall, Jesus picked up a whip to chase the money changers out of the temple, which was also the seat of the government.
Wanda you are spot on. This is not a general season in the Spirit. I believe this is a time that Samuels & David, Ester & Deborah are being called up to do the will of God for this specific time. We need to be bold and yes gentle at the same time. My example is Trump, brash and outspoken but you can really tell he cares for the people of this country and not afraid to speak out against today people that weld power very poorly in this world.
exquisite writing, Wanda from the throne, Christ in you the hope of glory. I bought the book a year or more ago and it got buried in a shelf with a door, so when you offered it again . I thought I have that book. Truly powerful revelation from the scriptures. God is good; I tell every serious Christian I know its a must have for Believers!
Isaiah 9:6-7 applies …”the government shall be upon his (Jesus) shoulder”…and “of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end”. We are his body in the earth and should work to establish his precepts in our government and throughout the nations. We have been given authority in the precious name of Jesus to promote his kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.Thy will be done LORD!
Yes, amen and amen!
I completely agree Wanda. Last week I took a uber ride with a young lady who obviously loves the Lord so I asked her if she was going to vote and she said, “no” I don’t vote because all the elections are rigged so whoever is in power will be picked.(Paraphrased). Before that I had asked her what church she goes to and she said, “Church of Christ”. In my humble opinion they are deluded and have deluded many people with their ignorance, opinions and fears.
May God have mercy on His so-called people.
Unfortunately most platform ministers are more concerned about building their own churches rather then the Kingdom of God that is meant to impact the seven spheres of culture. Consequently, they are more concerned about offending and losing members than instructing on which platform is more anti Christ.
Wanda, great wisdom and courage in what you say! So agree prayer is important but necessary to be married with corresponding action that figuratively moves outside our prayer closet and church walls to be salt and light in society even as Esther and Mordecai, Joseph, and Daniel did, unafraid to closely interact with worldly rulers and non-believers though always putting God first.
I appreciate your heart’s desire to get things moving in the right direction. Whilst I agree with most of your views, I think it’s always more effective to keep things personal and write about what you yourself are doing and what your church members do, rather than writing generally about what other people should be doing and what kind of attitudes other people should have. There was nothing really new that I could learn from in your text. Generally speaking, people don’t like to be told how they should be thinking and what they should be doing. I’m a communications trainer for solving conflicts and improving relationships in families (P.E.T.), so anything to do with written or verbal communication styles stand out for me. You could use the word “I” more often, not in an egotistical way, but to say, “I feel this,” or “I had this experience” or “I’d be interested to know” and definitely leave out “WE,” and “WE MUST…”since you don’t have the authority to say what other people have to do or need to do, even if you are talking to people in your own church and certainly not to a wider audience. For example, “I believe prayer is very effective and I think it’s important to pray for such things as ..” – instead of “We need to pray.” Even children resent being told all the time what they have to do (They rebel sooner or later!) and with adults it’s the same.
So, you’re speaking to me in the same manner that you’re condemning?
Hmmm…seems like it, doesn’t it? I was told as a know-it-all teen that a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. Just be you, Wanda. The you God has anointed to speak about the things others run from.
I agree with Wanda and await your response. Thank you.
We “must” pray—and then vote, or we will lose our freedom.
What do you mean by “freedom”?
The laissez-faire attitude of believers exemplifying gross ignorance & frankly lack of education is what got us here.
The lazy church loves non-involvement & worse, the religious doctrines of man that make the so-called
“Christian” journey a wholly legalistic experience & not an intimate relationship with Father, Jesus and
Holy Spirit. The Crusades that checked the advance of Muslim conquerors, Luther’s 95 Theses bringing to light
manmade doctrines that controverted the Word of God, “1776” when a very few rose up against tyranny, etc.
Wake up people! The clarion call has been sounded. God says He will “spew out of His mouth” the lukewarm church.
I agree absolutely!
Amen!
Crazy! I never saw this post on FB. Sharing it now – it IS exactly what should be said to the “32 million Christians” who have no interest in voting!
This is spot of Wanda!
This is spot on is what I meant o say. Thank you for speaking the truth.
Thank you for a word of encouragement to live, act, and speak for God’s Kingdom. vote, vote, vote!
If you don’t vote, don’t complain later!
Wanda I have your book..”Moving from Sword to Scepter” I hope I’m saying this correctly as it is not in front of me. I wanted to say I keep this next to my bed with my bible. It never goes on the shelf. I’m learning so much & it brings enlightment and hope to see more clearly who I am in Christ. Though we are in a turbulent season I’m excited to see God move in ways I haven’t seen before. I’m 76 & I’m beyond awe that He allowed me to live in this season of time. I know he’s coming so very soon. I’m in Western NC & seeing so much devastation the earth groans for His return. When I see & hear people whom the enemy is using I remind myself God lives them & I am to be like Him. He wishes noone to perish but all come to everlasting life.
Thank you many times over for your teaching & the light you shine for the world to see.
I say yes and amen to everything you wrote! The air game and the ground game – although they are far from games – are both critically important. I think your example of Esther is a perfect model to follow. Pray and then act – over and over again – as the Lord leads – until we see a transformation toward righteousness.
Thank you for your timely newsletter that you sent this morning (10/23/2024). I enjoyed reading your article about laws changing when God’s people step in. Interestingly, I had a vivid dream when I woke up this morning (and today is also the last day of 2024 Sukkot). My dream: “President #44’s abandoned and storm-damaged home had several (flesh-colored) mannequins all over the muddy grounds of his property. The mannequins were positioned on their backs, stuck to the mud that covered the grounds of his property. Some of the mannequins looked lifeless, some looked dead, and some looked like they were dying (taking their final breaths).” End of dream. After I woke up, I opened my laptop and saw your 10/23/2024 newsletter.
Exactly. It’s the squeaky wheel that gets the oil only in this case more and more people will have the courage to speak up and speak out as others start standing for righteousness. It’s time Christians stop letting ungodly people make laws and rules that are an offence to God. I believe that leadership should come from our pastors but its not there so we need to encourage each other.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness“
2 Timothy 3:16.
God’s word is which forms the basis of Wanda’s counsel isn’t a helpful hint or our own fallible advice, it is God’s command and precept and the basis on which our works/ actions will be judged by God- we were instructed to do them and did we carry them out according to biblical principles.
