The Lord says to my Lord: "Sit at My right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool." The Lord sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your enemies!
Psalms 110:1-2 ESV
For those who understand the greater authority we carry from an unseen Kingdom, the issue isn’t about whether or not we get involved in governmental affairs or an electoral process. It’s about being vessels of transformation and possessing a zeal to see God’s glory and presence permeate and impact every part of the nation. God’s rule and dominion is not just a spiritual concept reserved for prayer. It is a tangible result of sons and daughters becoming instruments of righteousness and conduits of Kingdom authority into every part of God’s creation.
What does that look like?
Kingdom rule is the reality of an unseen Kingdom at work in every sphere of our culture; bearing such weight, authority, and influence, it’s impact is powerful and tangible. It will be felt by the implicit, supernatural authority that accompanies those who operate in it, bringing substantial results that are not possible through natural means. It is we, the ambassadors of heaven, who are the carriers of this Kingdom authority and those who bring heaven to earth in our various realms of influence. This is not necessarily by ruling over others in the natural as much as ruling and reigning in the spirit. We have the opportunity to bring this kind of impact to every mountain of our culture through our witness and righteous actions, regardless of our roles or positions.
God took Daniel to a governmental mountain in his day to bear heaven’s authority with a heathen ruler. Joseph was made second in command to the Pharaoh of Egypt in order to save God’s people from extinction. The apostle Paul was led into the courts of Caesar to make an appeal for the gospel. In each case, it was not an organized takeover or attempt at domination, but a living demonstration of Kingdom rule and authority that so impacted the pagan rulers of the day, God’s people prospered, and the glory of the true King became known. They ruled in the midst of their enemies.
(excerpted from MOVING FROM SWORD TO SCEPTER, Wanda Alger 2020)
Esther did not save her people through prayer alone. It merely prepared her to challenge the laws of the day, risk her life and reputation, and use her voice to declare God’s intentions to a heathen ruler. She was given a scepter, and what was deemed unlikely and impossible in the natural, became reality because of both prayer and action. Laws were changed because God’s people stepped in.
The saints of old didn’t avoid interaction with the rulers of their day. On the contrary, when God’s people were threatened, He called them up and they gladly walked into the courts of men knowing the greater authority they carried. They used that authority to change atmospheres, change hearts, and even change laws. They gladly defended their faith and confronted the powers that be, not because they sought to be political, but because the righteousness of God compelled them. Their involvement not only turned the hearts of rulers, but turned the tide of nations.
There is a death sentence decreed against the people of God in this nation. Veiled as woke ideologies, we are being prepared for annihilation and enslavement to an anti-God system. Yes, we need to pray. But we also must take action and let our voice be heard. We must speak up in the public square, and exercise our rights as citizens to vote for those who are going to rule and make laws that will affect us. If we do not, the ungodly will rule by default. This is not the time to debate our role in civic affairs. We’ve been given a scepter and it’s time to use it. It’s time to exercise our Kingdom authority, first in prayer, and then in practice.

I completely agree with what you are saying!!! I have had times in my own life where I have seen it work. I had been betrayed by family and friends and I felt alone, but God showed me that, just like Elijah and his servant, there may be enemies surrounding me, but God’s Presence and angel army surrounds the enemy. There are more WITH each of us then there are against us. We may feel insignificant and we are, but the Kingdom of God dwells in each of our hearts and He can set up situations where we can influence those around us. Just like the impossible situation with Esther that you mentioned, what we SEE with our physical eyes can change. We need to be the LIGHT in each situation of life, whether home, job, church, or government. We need to stand on God’s Word and believe that we ARE, indeed, making a difference, no matter where we are.
Good word and needed or nothing will change!
I completely agree. Now is no time to stand in the shadows and hope all will be well but a time to be bold.
Too many are still asleep and being deceived. They are in our families and, sadly, in our churches.
I find some are lip syncing Truth but their hearts are far from the Truth Bearer.
I pray every person who is still so sure they are right in their thinking but so wrong in the ways of God will have a Damascus experience. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I agree and have voted. Also am praying for how He wants to use me in this fight for freedom and His kingdom!
Yes and amen! Wanda you are spot on. It is high time for the church to get off her laurels and get in the game! Enough is enough! How dare we complain if we can’t do one simple task and at least vote. We pray and decree from the authority that Christ has given to us, then we act and do whatever He has called us to do. My niece is running for a county commissioner seat. She is the first one in our family to run for political office! She is an Esther and she has been called into this great responsibility. I support what you have written 100%, whether it was written to others’ specifications or not. It is time to put the petty aside and war for our nation, not against each other.
Thank you for speaking truth. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Wanda. I agree with you. The body of Christ needs to stand up, show up and speak up. After all, what would He do? We can learn our authority in Christ, war in prayer and show God’s love all the same time. We were made in Father God’s image, and He wants us to have dominion here on earth. We are to rule and reign with Jesus one day. So why would we give up all leadership in all areas of government, finances, etc., and stay in our church walls and not value voting?
James was very clear that faith without corresponding works is dead. Prayer without personal actions goes along the same line. Wanda, I agree with you that the body of Christ must not only vote, but live everyday lives that promote righteousness in every area of society. We are a nation governed by the people – supposedly. If the righteous refuse to vote or get involved in government, then only the unrighteousness will rule. We have neglected our civic duty as Christians and are reaping its effect. Time to repent and show it by our actions.
Wanda,
I am someone who understands the greater authority we carry from an unseen kingdom. I agree with all your points in this post.
I believe you have the right and authority as a woman of God to use the term “we” in every instance in your writing because “we” are the people you are addressing.
We are believers in Jesus as our Lord. We are a group. I listen to you and heed your word. I recognize the anointing to speak what God leads you to say and write.
I believe we as followers of the Lord Jesus we have the duty to be involved in every area of our culture. It is imperative particularly now that we speak without fear, and work for and with leaders who are honorable. It is a divine privilege not afforded to many the world over.
Please don’t allow those that misunderstand stop you from continuing on.
WELL SAID…SPOT ON
THIS IS CALLED RULING AND REIGNING WITH FATHER AS KINGS AND PRIESTS, SONS AND DAUGHTERS…
