We are being severely tested between walking in the fear of the Lord or giving in to the fear of man. We are being shaken to the very foundations of what we believe and why. As some major leaders in the Charismatic church are being exposed for either sexual immorality, fraudulent practices, or abusive leadership, everyone is having to grapple with the fallout. Everyone is feeling the pain. But we have to remember – this isn’t a personality contest. And it’s not about whether we believe in the gifts of the Spirit or if God can actually do miracles. The Word has already settled those truths.

What’s at stake is the standard by which live. What’s at stake is our collective witness in the power of a righteous life. Do we actually believe what the Word says about godly character and integrity? Do we actually believe in the core values of honesty, truthfulness, and purity of life and conduct? Do we truly embrace the standard set for God’s leaders and believe that they have been called to live out these standards as models to those they serve? Do we believe in the blessing of accountability and the need for godly correction?

If so, then this isn’t about defending a well-known minister. It isn’t about proving that someone’s anointing is real or their gifts are of God. It’s about holding to those values and truths that we know are necessary if we are to rightly reflect Christ. It’s about holding fast to those godly principles and character qualities that give us power over the enemy and yield the greatest glory for our God. As much as we love and cherish the supernatural gifts of God, His greater priority has always been the heart.

If we truly believe in these virtues and walk in the fear of God, there is no debate. There should be no second-guessing as to what God desires or even expects of those He calls and anoints. If any leader or minister does not abide by the simple standards already set forth in God’s Word concerning a life of purity, holiness, and honor before the Lord, they are not only defrauding God’s people, but defaming God’s Name. They have become blinded by their own ego and are now leading others into a pit.

We have been praying for the fear of the Lord and we must now choose it. This is not about defending any man or ministry. It’s about standing true on what’s already been settled. It’s about laying down our idols and the fear of man, and choose what is right.

Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.

  1. Amen and amen, Sister Wanda!!! I look so forward to your posts. I am always in agreement!!!!!

  2. I embrace everything you (Wanda A.) have said regarding purity and lifestyle that is above reproach. We must not, however, become so focused that we forget that Jesus said “the world” would know “us” by our love for one another. Matthew 22:37-40 shows Jesus and the Two Great Commandments. I have been around some groups where the concern over “uprightness” was so keen that individuals were afraid to even suggest that they were struggling with some issue…. If Christians weren’t tempted and even slip into bad behavior once in a while, what’s the point of I John 1:9-10. What’s the purpose of the GIFT of encouragement if no one ever gets down? None of the gifts are meant to be solitary, including pastors & prophets – we either walk together or we fall alone! We should never come to a point where we are afraid of judgments from fellow Christians.

  3. Wanda, I am breathless reading your post. This represents a unity that goes beyond the unity of the Spirit, as we enter the realm of unity of faith. Such is the move of God in us in our generation. In the book that Holy Spirit downloaded to me, I agree with your word, as without holiness, we cannot wear the breastplate of righteousness of the Armor of God. We cannot be granted spiritual authority without holiness of the heart. Such is the teaching of the Seven Letters to the Churches, and what Holy Spirit gave me in My Letter to You. Thank you, Wanda, for your spiritual leadership, which is so needed by this generation!
