I am very thankful for Andrew Whalen and my recent interview with him. His prophetic dreams and insights were food for my soul and spirit. Confirming much of what has been taking place in the heavenly realms concerning the Body of Christ these past two years, he highlighted the principalities at work and helped me settle some issues.

We’ve already seen the rampant sexual immorality being uncovered in the Church, and the Lord is committed to exposing these sins along with any kind of spiritual abuse from religious leaders. Many of these symptoms point to the spirit of Jezebel (Revelation 2:20), and though Jezebel has been cited almost ad nauseam in past seasons, I want to bring another perspective to “her” activity. 

Not everyone who operates in this spirit intentionally wants to lead people astray. Not everyone who is labeled a Jezebel is even aware of their partnership with her. Though there are a few who deliberately choose to rebel against the Lord and refuse to repent, there are also others who are unaware of their own deception. Jezebel blinds her slaves, and many who partner with her have no idea they are puppets in her hands. I know this because I used to be one of them.

Years ago, I truly believed I was championing the work of Holy Spirit and boldly declared my perceived truths about my church and family without realizing how blind I was. Operating from my own unresolved hurts and disappointments from my past, I had opened the door to Jezebel’s deception and became a mouthpiece for her agenda. I spoke out against seeming injustices and demanded compliance to what I believed was God’s will.  What I thought was prophetic was actually manipulation. What I believed was insight was actually a twisted version of reality. Thankfully, I was finally able to see the trap I had fallen in and repented of my need to control the conversation and justify my cause. I experienced deliverance from Jezebel’s grip and was freed from her oppression and the false yoke of responsibility that had driven me.

I share this to personalize our warfare. There is no question (for me) that God is the One who is exposing sin in the camp and calling out compromised leaders. He is the One who is directing this process and shining the light on sins that have been hidden for years. He’s had enough. And though not all of His whistleblowers may be palatable to others, they are His, nonetheless. Yes, there are look-alikes who are trying to profit from the press, but there are also those who are truly called and compelled by the Spirit and not by man. That which has been covered and purposely kept secret, the Father is calling into the open for public examination.

The voices who oppose these exposures have varied reasons. Some cite they are outright false accusations. Others believe they should not be announced publicly. Still others simply do not approve of the way some of the whistleblowers are reporting the stories. No doubt, some of these concerns are legitimate and we need to carefully consider and weigh all that comes forward, in both content and spirit. But I also believe that many of these concerns are a smokescreen; an illusion of truth manufactured by the whispers of Jezebel. She is seeking to devour those who are easily offended or swayed by popular opinion. Her hope is to justify these sins through a false repentance in order to weaken our spiritual authority and destroy our witness. But regardless of the weaknesses and flaws of this process, it is God’s hand at work and ALL will have to answer to Him. All of us must search our hearts to make sure we have not opened the door to Jezebel’s whispers and fallen prey to her agenda.

My appeal is simply this. As these debates continue online, we must remember who the real enemy is. God is exposing sin in order to set captives free. His desire is to cleanse His House so that He can pour in a new wine of His Spirit to heal and refresh His Body. Just as Andrew pointed out in one of his words, true prophecy – as well as exposure of sin – is meant to liberate the captives and release people from bondage. And this includes even some of the voices that seem to oppose what He is doing, because they themselves are trapped in the devil’s snare.

This is where prayer and intercession will make the difference. As a diversity of voices make their case on social media, we must pray for greater purity in the process. Personal agendas must be laid side. Offenses must be surrendered. Doctrinal preferences must take a back seat to this cleansing work of the Spirit. And though emotions will be stirred, we can pray that they are sanctified emotions from the heart of God, reflecting righteous zeal and a passion for holiness.

I am not “for” or “against” any individual, leader, or minister. Even if someone is found to be guilty of horrendous sins, the love of God compels me to pray for their salvation and deliverance. As much as I pray for those who have been victimized and abused, I also pray for those caught in a snare of lies and half-truths. Ultimately, we are all in the same fight. It’s a battle for our faith, our witness, and even our love for one another. May we pass through these fires not only purified, but healed and whole.
