PRAYER FOCUS FOR PRESIDENT TRUMP

As I have watched the President in recent days and considered the enormous challenges of his assignment, I want to offer some considerations for prayer. I have noted the ongoing speculation about his spiritual condition and what he really believes. But to make those determinations from social media posts alone would be pretty presumptuous. And he has a pattern of making public statements that later prove to be either bait for his opponents or an intentional distraction and not truly what he believes (or even knows). Thus, it’s hard to tell by his public statements exactly where the man is in relation to his Maker. This is why we pray for him!

I personally have no reason to doubt his salvation, and yet know that the spiritual adversary is doing everything possible to quench his own zeal or passion for more than a simple prayer. This is why we must pray for his journey of faith in the midst of great opposition, both naturally and spiritually. Thankfully, even in the midst of his enemies, this President has been unashamed in declaring this nation to be under God. He has consistently championed conservative values. This past September, the White House released a new report of President Trump’s actions on behalf of Christians in this nation: President Trump’s Top 100 Victories for People of Faith. It’s an impressive list and, perhaps, one that more Christians who oppose this President need to consider.

It’s also apparent that the President gets a lot of “counsel” thrown his way, and it’s probably a mixture. He has already shown his loyalty towards those who have supported him, but it could also be a potential blind spot that needs more divine counsel. He has been a man determined to appear strong to his enemies and void of any weakness. Perhaps he believes that to be more open with his personal testimony would seem like an emotional crutch instead of a deep conviction. If this is true, he may need a fresh revelation of the true power of Christ within the heart of a sincere follower. Thankfully, many in his own cabinet are outspoken Christians who seem unafraid to speak up. We can pray that their testimonies inspire him to keep pressing in for a deeper connection with the Lord . And we must continue to pray that he would receive the right kind of wisdom that is truly needed to fulfill his call.

As we continue to pray for President Trump, we can take our direction from Scripture.

  • We can pray this President would seek out the One Counselor who will never fail him (Isaiah 11:2-5).
  • That he would come to know the only world Ruler who has all wisdom and insight for every decision needed (Psalm 32:8).
  • That he would come to see the fruit that comes when meditating on, and taking counsel from, the Word of God  (Psalms 1:1-3).
  • That he would be drawn to the secret place with an insatiable hunger for the counsel of the Lord and not the whispers of men (Proverbs 3:5-6, 13:20).
  • That he would come to know the power of the resurrected Christ within his own heart and life (Ephesians 1:16-21).

May this President come to know, and walk in the reality of Acts 1:8. That the Holy Spirit would come upon him with such power, that he would become a firsthand witness “…in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

  1. Some other prophetic people I follow have sensed from the Lord that there are wolves and snakes in the president’s inner circle, including in the faith advisory board. Pray that they are exposed and removed.

  2. My biggest concern with Trump is that at Kirk’s memorial he stated that he hates his opponents and does not want the best for them. That is NOT the heart of one who is truly led by the Holy Spirit, rather he is led by the flesh. People can profess Christ all they want but their words and deeds reveal their true nature. 1 John 4:8 “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love”. Let’s pray that Christ would soften the heart of Donald Trump and that he would be given a heart of love.

    1. As the President, Trump is not biblically required to love the wrongdoers (Romans 13:1-4). Though we would certainly hope that he would personally care for every human being and pray for mercy, his role as Commander in Chief requires him to use “the sword” to “punish the wrongdoers.”

    2. it appeared he was making a joke about hating like an ordinary person would feel, there aren’t a lot of ordinary people or even Christians that could put up with the hate that’s been thrown at him … I thought it was funny and real

  3. I loved the detailed commentary you had posted on YouTube yesterday about President Trump and that board and then deleted. It helped me understand what I had been feeling all along. While some may have thought it might have been critical and never giving the enemy a foothold, I thought it was good and proper. Not sure why you changed or deleted it but I just want to let you know I appreciated it and it was well thought out and put together. I truly appreciate you and your insight. I think you do it with thought, love and wisdom. Many blessings to you.

    1. Thank you, Emma. I did take that version down as my source didn’t have a peace about how it was written and I wanted to honor that. Regardless, the prayer points are the same:-). It’s clear the devil doesn’t like us praying for the President! Blessings:-).

  4. I love these prayers Wanda and appreciate you’re sharing them and will continue to pray them in agreement. I know that’s powerful! Isn’t President Trump a new Believer in the Lord and he hasn’t been one for very long; it took me years to see that as a Believer…a believing Believer that love was a very important part of my Christian life; it didn’t come automatically and I didn’t know right away that it’s a fruit of the Spirit. For me, I had to first understand that and I’m still growing in it….along with forgiveness and it didn’t come easy. I also didn’t know I could have a relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; that makes all the difference in the world, right?
