AN APPEAL TO THE TEACHERS AND PROPHETS

As much as prophets need to carefully examine their encounters and revelations with scriptural integrity, teachers must view their doctrines through eyes of faith and a personal belief in the supernatural. And as much as the prophetic movement needs to evaluate some of its faith practices and messaging that have gotten off track, so must those who teach be willing to go where their understanding can’t reach and their arguments don’t work. Yes, we need to be grounded in the Word. But without faith in things unseen, we will only be bound to rules that carry no power.

FEAR OF GOD or FEAR OF MAN?

If we truly believe in these virtues and walk in the fear of God, there is no debate. There should be no second-guessing as to what God desires or even expects of those He calls and anoints. If any leader or minister does not abide by the simple standards already set forth in God’s Word concerning a life of purity, holiness, and honor before the Lord, they are not only defrauding God’s people, but defaming God’s Name. They have become blinded by their own ego and are now leading others into a pit.

PREVIOUS STUDENTS REVEAL NEEDED REFORMS IN THE CHARISMATIC WORLD

Several of the larger Charismatic ministries in the news recently have schools attached to them. I recently met with a group of millennials who attended some of these ministry schools from 2010 to 2020. And though many past students are reporting negative experiences of compromised leadership and abuse, the millennials I spoke with are all now established within a local church and thriving in their gifts. None of them were aware of the problems that are now coming into the light. But I wanted to know their thoughts. How were they processing these exposures? What did they learn at these schools, and how did their experiences, either positive or negative, shape their current faith? What changes would they suggest for moving forward?

CAN I TRUST MY PASTOR?

Given the level of distrust that seems to be growing towards church leaders and corporate offenses rising against the Church, I’ve been getting more emails asking how to know if a pastor can be trusted. Here is my own “short list” of things I would hope to see in any church leader who is living out the biblical standards with a pure heart and clear conscience.

IT’S TIME TO REASSESS THE CHARISMATIC COMPOUND

I hear the cry of a generation calling out for authentic relationship over marketed Christianity. Heart to heart conversations over clickbait drama. True and honest leaders who love those they serve, more than they do their chance at a podium. In the midst of gifts gone bad and fruit that is rotting, they are looking for something real that is up close and personal.

SEDUCING DECEPTIONS

Our preoccupation with Christian pop stars and charismatic personalities has slowly lowered the biblical bar set for leaders in the Body of Christ. The recent exposures of some high-ranking ministers in the Church have caught many off guard because we’ve determined that gifting and influence are king. We’ve allowed appearances to take priority and haven’t been examining the fruit more carefully. As troubling evidence continues to emerge, it’s clear we’ve given platforms to some leaders who’ve been ministering from a polluted stream.

SHOULD DAVID BE THE STANDARD BEARER FOR A FALLEN LEADER’S RESTORATION?

In the wake of ministry leaders facing allegations of immoral behavior, followers often look to David’s sin with Bathsheba as a reason to forgive and move on. However, this mindset is not limited to followers but also exists among the leaders themselves. The article emphasizes the need for sincere repentance and recognition of the consequences of one’s actions, emphasizing that the greater one’s influence, the greater the consequences for disobedience.
